Cleaning a Roof in Kidderminster
Why it needed cleaning?
The roof was in quite good condition for an old cottage, but it had been stained by moss and organic growth. This not only looks ugly, but it can also damage the tiles as it acts like a sponge, holding absorbed water on the tiles and in the cracks. How to clean it?
We went along with our friend Dave from Squeaky Clean Roofs to tackle this one. After initially scraping the moss off the roof with specialized tools, we then treated it with a biocide wash. This is a treatment that gets more effective with time and has long lasting results. The biocide is pumped to a brush on the end of an extendable carbon pole to eliminate overspay, and then worked into the tiles with the soft brush. Within a few hours it is dry and starting to work. The results will get better and better over time.
Amazing results
We were able to biocide everything the customer wanted and to put it on safely, revitalizing the roof on this place and helping it to last longer, but without using a pressure washer that could drive water under the tiles or damage them.
The biocide stays on the tiles and gets absorbed, providing a very long lasting, effective treatment agains organic growth. Once dry it is completely safe to touch. The moss and lichen will start to die immediately. It will probably take about 6 months to reach its full potential, and will then keep the roof moss free for a very long time.
